Interview Samael - Desecration of Christ

A malevolent entity emerged from the dark and destructive rubble of hell comes to unleash chaos with his powerful and destructive bass and a devastating voice spitting blasphemies all over the world, Samael commander of evil, member of one of the most representative bands of South America, so called by many connoisseurs of extreme metal “Desecration of Christ”.

I extend the most cordial and hellish greeting from Witchhammer Finezine and all its readers, gratitude in advance for accepting my invitation, it begins with a personal introduction.

S- Hellish greetings, grateful for the invitation to this interview, I am Samael EVDD, vocalist and bassist of Desecration of Christ.

Samael, tell us at what age did you start liking extreme music, what made you choose this path?

S- Well, I've actually been listening to metal since I was a fetus, since I grew up in a family that mainly listened to metal or rock. My taste for extreme music started when I was 17, when I started filling my head with the sickest metal related to the left-hand path. That's when I started to forge my own putrid musical taste.

“In South America 91.9% of the population is religious and 92% in your country Ecuador”, how was it that your mentality was forged against this plague? since the social pressure is very strong.

S- Well to end up against those weak minds I had to read their own book full of contradictions, the people of this continent are mostly influenced by their own family, but they do not reconsider at any time anything that the shit of the bible says, for the simple fact that they are afraid of hell and they only nod their heads to all the garbage written in that filthy book, regarding the social pressure from them I don't care, for me it is better to keep that kind of scum away

Member of Desecration of Christ, tell us, how did this annihilating and precise idea come about? What are your strongest references?

S- I just wanted to unleash my hatred towards all Christian filth through music, that's why the name of the band speaks for itself of what this represents. And we always wanted to do something different from what the other bands in our city or even country were doing. If we wanted to spread hatred, we had to do it well, with a raw sound, with heartbreaking screams and with speed in the percussions.

How is the dynamic between you when it comes to writing and composing? Tell us a little about your members (to whom we extend our most infernal greeting)

S- Well, when it comes to composing, we all have something to contribute. The three of us work together when it comes to composing since we have the same musical interests. We try not to settle for the first thing that comes out when composing, but rather to add more aggression or violence so that the final result makes you want to decapitate a few heads of God's flock.

In your first demo, "Blasfemia," who performed the lyrics, art, and instrumental composition? How did the idea for this, your first released work, come about?

S- In the demo, Blasfemia, it's just Baalberith and me. I was in charge of the lyrics and the cover art, and Baalberith was in charge of the damn guitar and drum noises. The idea for that first work was born from something we had planned for a long time, to make real black metal, to talk about Satan and not about forests, to talk about blasphemies and not about trees, to make an instrumental as it is really done, without fucking melodic arrangements or that type of current and false "black metal" that exists now, and also to do something that we really like to do, without limitations, since the project was ours and we both had the same musical ideas and the same desire to vomit blasphemies.

Rape of Gods Flock was their first full-length with 7 tracks that are a hellish blaze, compared to their first work there is a significant difference, so under what references was this directed?

S- In the full-length we left black metal aside to start doing something more violent, with Baalberith we never wanted to stagnate and release each work the same, we always wanted to change and evolve, Abhorer also joins us in this, who like us wanted to release an aggressive work that would trigger weak minds and that would not even be pleasant for everyone, only for those who really have the sound of the noise that is made in this genre well captured.

Their latest offering is “Primitive Noise” a detonating and concise split with what they wanted to demonstrate, I want to congratulate the burned material, I am fortunate to have been able to acquire all their material. What do you say about this, how do you see the support in this latest release?

S- I feel that it has not been given the same opportunity as our other works, maybe it could be because we did not give this split much publicity, together with the other band we agreed to release the work without so much fanfare, that whoever wants to buy the material buys it and whoever does not want to, well, they miss out

Personally, what turns you on to be able to execute a riff or a paragraph of this magnitude? You are very young according to my research, what did your parents say when they found out about your musical and ideological taste?

S- The blasphemies or hatred that I cannot expel in my daily life, when I get on stage or am in a rehearsal I unleash all that I keep day after day. Regarding my parents, as I told you at the beginning, I got into this practically because of them, they know my ideologies and they have no problem with what I do.

How can you ask D.O.C to participate in a concert? I understand that since its foundation they have very few live performances.

S- We have always thought that the less we play in concerts the better, we do not want to prostitute ourselves and play in any shitty event with shitty bands, the most important thing is always to know if the bands that will share the stage have similarities with our music, since this way the public knows what they are going to hear and we will not see posers and dancers

I understand that you are in charge of writing the lyrics, what inspires Samael to forge these blasphemies? Apart from D.O.C. do you have or have you had any additional projects?

S- Yes, I am in charge of the lyrics of the songs. When I write, I am influenced by apocalyptic scenarios, where evil predominates and the Christian plague is annihilated, scenarios where all sins are rubbed in Christ's face and he is made to participate in them so that he melts into hell with us.

And yes, I have participated in other projects. I started very young in a Thrash Metal band and then I was in another group. I was in them because I was excited to be in a band being so young, but the truth is I wanted to do something that I really like. After that I left those groups and I no longer wanted to be just a member of the band but I wanted to be a founder and do something that I really liked to do, and that's where D.O.C. was born.

The dynamic of the page is always to ask about your most significant concert, tell us about it.

S- For me the most brutal concert was the "Necroholocaust and Tribute to the Goat II", there was a lot of alcohol, destruction, bands debuted and Christ was denigrated as it should be

In your last work, "Proclamation of Death Productions" was the label chosen to release this, tell us how that alliance came about, do you think you will stay with this label, or maybe you are looking at new proposals?

S- Well, the label liked what we do and contacted us to release the full, what we liked is that it was a new label that did not have many bands working with it, therefore we were not going to be on par with cowardly bands with the same name as our label.

Currently we are looking at new proposals, maybe to re-release the full again or a new work, but yes, always grateful to "Proclamation of Death" for releasing those two works

What's coming up for D.O.C, are you currently preparing or burning something already? Is there anything planned for this year in terms of presentation?

S- For now we are not in the composition stage, but we are planning to release an EP, also different from the other works, but that will be for a not so distant future.

So far this year we have not had any presentation, we still don't know if there will be one in 2024 or if we will return at the beginning of 2025 perhaps

Una entidad malévola emergida desde los escombros sombríos y destructivos del infierno viene a desatar el caos con su potente y destructivo bajo y una voz arrasadora escupiendo blasfemias por todo el mundo, Samael comandante de mal, integrante de una de las bandas más representativas de Sudamérica dictada así por muchos conocedores del metal extremo “Desecration of Christ”. 

Extiendo el más cordial e infernal saludo de parte de Witchhammer Finezine y todos sus lectores, gratitud desde ya por aceptar mí invitación, empieza con una introducción personal. 

S- Saludos infernales, agradecido por la invitación a esta entrevista, soy Samael EVDD, vocalista y bajista de Desecration of Christ. 

Samael cuéntanos ¿a qué edad empezó el gusto por la música extrema, que te hizo escoger este camino? 

S- Bueno, el metal realmente lo vengo escuchando desde feto, ya que me crié en una familia que escuchaba principalmente metal o rock, el gusto por la musica extrema viene desde los 17 años, que empecé a llenarme la cabeza de metal mas enfermo y relacionado con el sendero de la mano izquierda, fue ahí cuando comencé a forjar mi propio gusto musical putrefacto. 

“En Sudamérica el 91.9 % de población es religiosa y el 92 % dentro de tu país Ecuador”, ¿cómo fue que tu mentalidad se forjo anti esta plaga? ya que la presión social es muy fuerte. 

S- Pues para terminar en contra de esos mentes debiles tuve que leer su propio libro lleno de contradicciones, las personas de este continente son mas que todo influenciados por su propia familia, pero no se replantean en ningun momento nada de lo que dice la mierda de la biblia, por el simple hecho de que le tienen miedo al infierno y solo asienten con su cabeza a toda basura escrita en ese mugroso libro, respecto a la presión social de parte de ellos me da igual, para mi mejor tener alejado a ese tipo de escoria.

Integrante de Desecration of Christ, cuéntanos, ¿cómo surgió esta aniquilante y precisa idea? ¿Cuáles son sus referencias más fuertes?. 

S- Yo solo quería desatar mi odio hacia toda la mugre cristiana por medio de la musica, por eso el mismo nombre de la banda ya habla por si solo de lo que representa esto. Y pues nosotros siempre quisimos hacer algo distinto de lo que hacían las otras bandas de nuestra ciudad o país incluso. Si queríamos expandir odio, debíamos hacerlo bien, con un sonido crudo, con gritos desgarradores y con velocidad en las percusiones 

¿Cómo es la dinámica entre ustedes cuando se trata de escribir y componer?, coméntanos un poco sobre sus integrantes (a quien extendemos nuestro más infernal saludo) 

S- Pues al momento de composición todos tenemos algo en que aportar, los tres compaginamos al momento de composición ya que tenemos los mismo afines musicales, tratamos de no conformarnos con lo primero que nos salga al momento de componer, si no que a eso meterle mas agresividad o mas violencia para que el resultado final te genere las ganas de decapitar unas cuantas cabezas del rebaño de Dios 

En su primer Demo “Blasfemia”, ¿Quién ejecuto lirica, arte y composición instrumental, como surgió la idea para este su primer trabajo lanzado? 

S- En el demo Blasfemia solo somos Baalberith y yo. De las letras y el arte de la portada yo me encargué, y de los malditos ruidos de las guitarras y de la batería se encargó Baalberith.  La idea de ese primer trabajo nace de algo que teníamos planeado hace mucho, hacer black metal real, hablar de Satan no de bosques, hablar de blasfemias y no de arboles, hacer una instrumental como realmente se hace, sin putos arreglos melódicos ni ese tipo de "black metal" actual y falso que existe ahora, y pues también hacer algo que realmente nos guste hacer, sin limitaciones, ya que el proyecto era nuestro y los dos teníamos las mismas ideas musicales y las mismas ganas de vomitar blasfemias. 

Rape of Gods Flock fue su primer Full con 7 temas que son una llamarada infernal, a comparación de su primer trabajo hay una diferencia significativa, entonces bajo que referencias fue dirigida esta. 

S- En el full nosotros dejamos a un lado el black metal para ya comenzar a hacer algo mas violento, con Baalberith nunca quisimos estancarnos a sacar cada trabajo igual, siempre quisimos cambiar y evolucionar, a esto tambien se nos une Abhorer que al igual que nosotros quería sacar un trabajo agresivo que detone mentes débiles y que incluso no sea agradable para todo el mundo, solo para los que realmente tienen bien plasmado el sonido de la bulla que se hace en este genero 

Su última oferta es “Primitive Noise” un split detonante y conciso con lo que quisieron demostrar, quiero felicitar el material quemado, tengo la fortuna de haber podido adquirir todo su material. ¿Qué dices sobre esto, como ves el apoyo en este último lanzamiento? 

S- Siento que no se le ha dado la misma oportunidad que nuestros otros trabajos, talvez puede ser porque a este split no le dimos mucha publicidad, junto a la otra banda quedamos en sacar el trabajo sin tanto alarde, que compre el que quiera comprar el material y el que no quiera pues el se lo pierde 

¿En lo personal qué te enciende para poder ejecutar un riff o un párrafo de esta magnitud? eres muy joven según mis investigaciones, ¿qué dijeron tus padres al enterarse de tu gusto musical e ideológico? 

S- Las blasfemias o el odio que no puedo expulsar en mi vida cotidiana, al momento de subirme a un escenario o estar en un ensayo desato todo eso que me guardo día a día. 

Respecto a mis padres, pues como te decía al inicio, practicamente por ellos empecé en esto, conocen mis ideologías y no tienen ningun problema con lo que hago 

¿Como se puede pedir a D.O.C que sea participe de un concierto? tengo entendido que desde su fundación tienen muy pocas presentaciones en vivo. 

S- Nosotros siempre hemos pensado que entre menos toquemos en conciertos es mejor, no queremos prostituirnos y tocar en cualquier evento de mierda junto a bandas de mierda, siempre lo primordíal es saber si las bandas que compartiran tarima tienen similitudes con nuestra musica, ya que así el publico sabe lo que va a escuchar y no veremos a posers y bailarines 

Entiendo que tú eres el encargado de plasmar las letras, ¿que inspira a Samael a forjar estas blasfemias? ¿aparte de D.O.C. tienes o has tenido algún proyecto adicional? 

S- Si, me encargo de las letras de los temas, al momento de escribir me influencio de escenarios apocalipticos, donde el mal predomina y se aniquila a la plaga cristiana, escenarios donde todos los pecados se los restriegan en la cara a Cristo y se lo hace participe de ellos para que se funda en el infierno junto a nosotros. 

Y si, he sido participe en otros proyectos, inicié desde muy joven en una banda de Thrash Metal y luego estuve en otro grupo, estuve en ellos por que me hacía ilusión estar en una banda siendo tan joven, pero la verdad quería hacer algo que realmente me guste. Despues de eso me abrí de esos grupos y ya no quise ser mas solo un integrante de la banda si no que quise ser fundador y hacer algo que realmente me gustara hacer, de ahí nace D.O.C. 

La dinámica de la página siempre es preguntar sobre su concierto más significativo, coméntanos sobre ello. 

S- Para mi el concierto mas bestial fue el "Necroholocausto y Tributo a la Cabra II", hubo mucho alcohol, destrucción, debutaron bandas y se denigró a Cristo como se debe. 

En su último trabajo fue “Proclamation of Death Productions” el sello escogido para lanzar esto, coméntanos ¿cómo surgió esa alianza, se piensan mantener con este sello, o quizás están viendo nuevas propuestas? 

S- Pues al sello le gustó lo que nosotros hacemos y nos contactó para sacar el full, lo que nos agradó es que era un sello nuevo que no tenía muchas bandas trabajando con el, por lo tanto no ibamos a estar a la par de bandas cagonas con el nombre del mismo sello nuestro. 

Actualmente estamos viendo nuevas propuestas, talvez para relanzar el full nuevamente o un nuevo trabajo, pero eso si, siempre agradecidos con "Proclamation of Death" por sacar esos dos trabajos. 

Que se viene para D.O.C, ¿actualmente estarán preparando o quemando algo ya? ¿En cuestión de presentación hay algo pactado para este año? 

S- Por ahora no estamos en composición, pero tenemos pensado sacar un EP, así mismo distinto a los otros trabajos, pero eso será para un futuro no tan lejano. 

En lo que va del año no hemos tenido ninguna presentación, aun no sabemos si este 2024 habrá alguna o si volveremos para principios del 2025 talvez.

Sin más quiero agradecer el tiempo que te diste para ser esta entrevista posible, varias incógnitas que se despejaran para todos los lectores, siempre atentos a cada movimiento que den, eso es todo por mi parte. Las últimas palabras son tuyas.
